2024 Porsche 911 GT3-RS

The 2024 Porsche 911 GT3 RS in Paint-to-Sample Ruby Star is the fastest road legal Porsche in the current 911 model line.

When the GT3 RS was announced in August of 2022 one major thing stood out, the rear spoiler. Spy shots of the announcement showed the largest rear spoiler Porsche would offer, which looked like it belonged on the racetrack. The Porsche 911 GT3 RS offered the market a production car with the feel and performance of a track car.

Built with a focus on weight reduction and track readiness, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS is made with a carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) allowing an unladen weight of 3,196 lbs along with the CFRP. The 911 also has a lightweight glaze and acoustic film on all windows further aiding weight reduction, while also assisting interior acoustics, dampening outside and engine noise.

Alongside the focus on weight reduction, the 911 also focused on aerodynamics and cooling. Using every component to help with the cooling, even using the air vent designs to achieve more downforce on the track. Doing so helps the GT3 RS having a quoted downforce of 1,895 lbs at 177 mph, which is almost double that of the last 911.2 GT3 RS model.

The 2024 911 GT3 RS also has a DRS (drag reduction system) which allows choice between long drag mode and maximum downforce. This helped the 911 beat the previous record time at the Nürburgring track by almost 9.5 seconds to become the “fastest production car with a manual transmission”

Further on the lines on the manual transmission, the GT3 RS lacks an 8th gear like the standard 911 (saving it 44Lbs of weight) but that is seldom needed on off track applications. Since it’s setup for track use, the GT3 RS is less for city driving, with the first gear allowing up to 44 mph and second gear going up to 74 mph.
