2019 Porsche 911 GT3-RS

  • Remade “facelifted” model produced for one year

  • One of only six production cars to lap Nürburgring in less than 7 minutes

  • Less than 5000 made, with less than 500 in Lizard Green

The 2019 GT3 RS in the gallery painted in “lizard Green” with the factory option “Weissach package” is one of less than 500 ever made. Purchased in Rhode Island this GT3 RS has lived its life contributing to the automotive history of Newport.

Two days after Porsche announced the 2019 911 GT3 RS, the brand shocked consumers by finishing the famous Nürburgring track almost 24 seconds faster than previous models. Finishing the lap in 6:56.4 minutes, which was the fastest time for a production car at the time, the GT3 RS still holds the tenth fastest spot to date. When taken on Road America the GT3 RS completed a lap time of 2:13.81 minutes, over a second faster than the GT2 RS Porsches most powerful 911 made to date.

This car is equipped with the “Weissach Package” shown by the “Weissach RS” stitching on the seats and exterior badge. Designed for reducing the overall curb weight of the GT3 RS by 18kg (39.6 lbs), this includes a titanium bolt-in roll cage helping with rigidity and driver safety at high speeds, and carbon-fiber hood and roof panels to lessen the overall curb weight. The original roof is made of aluminum, a whole 2.2 pounds heavier than carbon fiber, showing the Weissach package dedication to weight reduction. This GT3 RS is fitted with optional forged magnesium wheels which are 25.3 pounds lighter per wheelset than the standard aluminum wheels. This all brings the total weight of the GT3 RS to 3,153 lbs, 65 lbs lighter than the stock GT3 RS without the Weissach and optional magnesium wheels.

Due to a production delay linked with supplier issues at the release of the GT3 RS, all early Weissach optioned models were sent with the original painted carbon fiber hood with the promise of the exposed carbon fiber hood to be delivered at a later date.

Additionally, to the Weissach package, this GT3 RS is fitted with the “Chrono Package” which further lends to the idea of a road legal track car. Designed for the driving enthusiasts, this package includes a mid-dash mounted stopwatch for track timing and lap times, a stiffer suspension tuning for better handling, selectable driving modes (including Normal/Sport/Sport+/Individual/Wet), track transmission tuning, and launch controls.
