· 1600+ HP on E85 Fuel
Named after Christian von Koenigsegg’s father, the Jesko is the latest hypercar from the small company who continues to push the envelope for what is possible in a high-performance vehicle. Koenigsegg has been producing strictly super and hypercars out of Sweden for more than two decades now, and seemingly every car that leaves the factory is faster, more advanced and more capable than the last. Koenigsegg has become synonymous with not just the most artistic hypercars in the world but also exploring new technologies in every aspect of their vehicles, and the Jesko is no different.
On the exterior, the Jesko is a beautiful creation. The entire skin is made of carbon, with endless scoops and fins to channel air properly. The giant rear wing is a unique Koenigsegg creation, using active aerodynamics to increase or decrease downforce depending on the immediate driving scenario. The wing is mounted to the rear pillar of the car, which maintains a slippery surface at the very rear of the car to decrease drag as much as possible. Two air intakes are integrated near the wing mounts, which allows more rearward visibility over previous intakes in the center. With 1280 horsepower, the Jesko is able to produce its weight in downforce at high speeds, a stat that seemed previously impossible. Koenigsegg’s Triplex Suspension System works to combat against the extreme downforce with a tensioner that preloads the springs as speed increases in order to keep the front of the car stable.
The 5.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 in the middle of the Jesko is an incredible piece of engineering, but it is Koenigsegg’s unique nine-speed transmission that steals the show. An incredibly compact and lightweight piece, the transmission does not utilize a typical flywheel or clutch between the engine and transmission. Instead, there are seven small clutches within the transmission housing. This significantly reduces rotational mass, allowing the engine to actually perform with less stress and makes this engine the quickest revving vehicle in the world. Even with two large turbochargers bolted to the engine, the throttle response is near immediate at any RPM, and because of the characteristics of the transmission, the car can switch to the highest or lowest possible gear in the time it takes a normal car to switch one gear, even allowing the transmission to skip multiple gears on upshifts or downshifts.
Another amazing aspect of the vehicle is simply the experience of getting into the vehicle and getting behind the wheel. Opening the door can be done using the key fob or with a button on the door. The “dihedral synroc-helix” doors open with a swivel, rotating outward, upward and forward once open. It is a completely unique opening mechanism that is jaw dropping to watch. Once inside, the large carbon fiber key fob mounts to the left side of the dashboard with a magnet. Upon starting the Jesko and turning the wheel slightly you see another piece of magic; the small display screen is mounted to the steering column and rotates with the wheel, though the display stays centered while the screen rotates. This is a technological nod to driver focus, another aspect that only Koenigsegg has been able to include in their cars.
We could’ve written a book about how advanced, capable and simply beautiful the Jesko is, but the reality is it speaks for itself. There are endless aspects that Koenigsegg has engineered to put the Jesko in a space completely on its own. This is a car similar to the Tucker of the 40’s, or even Bugatti of the 20’s and 30’s – a completely new and unique vehicle that was built with a direct connection to the owner and namesake of the company. We believe that when Christian von Koenigsegg is no longer with us in 100 years, these Koenigsegg’s will be looked at as some of the greatest human creations from our generation on this planet.
