A Little History

This radical hot rod was built as a personal vehicle by Doug Eldred of Eldred Hotrod Shop in Edinboro, PA. The Brass Monkey started off as a beat-up standalone 1939 Chevy truck cab purchased for $600, similar to the one shown above.

Eldred described his custom-build project as “somewhat of a show vehicle” – perhaps the understatement of the year! The Brass Monkey features a long list of custom fabricated parts and pieces from other vehicles. It has a 4 ½-inch chopped top, shaved cowl vent, custom truck bed, and handmade, etched brass door handles and trim. The grille shell is from a 1935 Chevy truck and has been sectioned 7 inches. The headlights are from a 1934 Ford, and the truck has a 1940 Ford 4-inch drop axle up front.
