This Bimota Tesi 3D is a limited-production Italian motorcycle, utilizing unique center hub front steering and suspension, relying on a powerful Ducati twin-cylinder 1078cc fuel-injected engine in one of the most advanced two-wheeled vehicles ever built. Every component of its radical hybrid alloy frame is engineered for light weight and strength by using machined aluminum connecting rigid engine cases linked to steel trellis suspension arms. Rather than telescoping front fork suspension, the Tesi’s front end has a swing arm pivoting low on the frame, and a “pull rod” shock absorber incorporating an air spring, that runs along the right side of the engine.

Through the many years of motorcycle development, front suspension and steering have been a focal point for innovation. Bimota’s unique solution was to employ a more conventional dual-sided front and rear swing arm, to utilize center hub steering where the wheel hub was supported on both sides and the wheel could pivot within the confines of the arms.

The 3D is the third generation of center hub steering Bimota motorbikes and uses trellis-style swinging arms front and rear. The engine comes from Ducati’s Multistrada 1100, featuring an oil and air-cooled 90-degree V-twin configuration with fuel injection and 2 valves per cylinder. Light weight and low center of gravity are attributed to minimalist bodywork made from carbon fiber, showing off the unique frame features.
