2017 Ford Mustang Shelby Super Snake

  • Fastest production Mustang when released in 2015

  • Colorway pays homage to original Super Snake

  • Significant performance upgrades to ensure track reliability

The Shelby name has always been synonymous with some of the most high-performance Fords since the 1960’s, and this deadly Super Snake is no different. With more than 650 horsepower and a six-speed manual transmission to send that power to the rear wheels, this snake is certainly poisonous.

The Super Snake established itself as the fastest Mustang ever released upon its unveiling in 2015. Each Super Snake came with a Shelby serial number, documented in the official Shelby Registry, for easy individual identification. Additionally, a separate plaque signed by the build team was under the hood.

The styling of the 2015 to 2017 Super Snake pays homage to the original 1967 to 1968 Shelby Super Snakes. Design ques included its open-mouth grille, unique over-body stripes, and a hood that featured wide, twin nostrils with twin extractor scoops at the rear. Modern upgrades included a unique spoiler, 20-inch aluminum wheels, and a more powerful exhaust. Ford Mustang enthusiasts could get their Super Snakes in all the Ford Mustang factory colors. The 2017 model exterior colors were available in White Platinum, Grabber Blue, Race Red, Ingot Silver, Magnetic Gray, Triple Yellow, Lightning Blue, Ruby Red, Oxford White, and Shadow Black. The only interior color available was Ebony Black. Special seat trim, embroidered Shelby-signature headrests, and custom floor mats are some of the updated interior features to highlight.

In terms of performance, a 670-hp Ford Performance supercharger with Shelby-specific engine calibration and performance exhaust came equipped. A cooling package that allowed extended track sessions was also included. Lastly, the 2015 Super Snake had a balanced suspension with upgraded springs and dampers, along with racetrack capable stopping power thanks to large brakes with cooling ducts. These specifications allowed the Super Snakes to be made for the strip, street, and road.
