The Empresa Nacional de Autocamiones S.A. (ENASA) was a Spanish motor company that was incorporated in 1946 after having bought the assets of the Spanish Hispano-Suiza and the Italian Fiat subsidiary in Spain. It also produced a small run of sports cars under the brand name Pegaso. The Pegaso Z-102 was built in both coupé and cabriolet form from 1951 until 1958.

The Z-102 was the fastest car in the world at the time, with a top speed of over 151 mph. Pegaso's chief designer and engineer was Wifredo Ricart who was an engineer for Alfa Romeo before the war. The Z-102 model started life as a pair of prototypes in 1951 with coupe and drophead body styles powered by an advanced four-cam, all-alloy V8 2.8 liter engine featuring dry-sump lubrication. Both prototypes had steel bodies which were determined to be too heavy and Pegaso made the decision to switch to alloy bodies to reduce weight.

This unique Pegaso Z-102 is one of three lightweight competition cars made by Pegaso to run in the 1952 Monaco Grand Prix. This car, chassis 0115, is the actual car that qualified for the race driven by Joaquín Palacio Pizarro, but the factory retired the car prior to the race due to a variety of issues. The Audrain Collection acquired the car along with the rest of the famous Nicholas Begovich collection in 2020 and the car was restored to its exact original specification. The finished car was first displayed at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in 2023. In January of 2025, it was flown to Switzerland to begin a European tour of events beginning on the frozen lake in Saint Moritz at The ICE Event. Afterwards, it was shown at the Lugano Concours in Switzerland where it was awarded Best in Class before travelling to the Concorso Villa D’Este on Lake Como. In the summer of 2025, it received an Honorable Mention at Salon Privé. So, although it never won a race in period, this rare race car has made up for it by winning several awards during its well-earned retirement!
